DAVIS, Calif. – UC Davis equestrian closed out its fall season at home with a strong showing in Flat, earning the event win 3-2 against No. 5 Oklahoma State. Despite several competitive rides across both events, the Aggies came up short in the overall meet, 14–6.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UC Davis opened the meet with several competitive rides in Flat. Freshman
Cavan Smith opened the event with an 81 aboard Smilla, narrowly missing a win by 3 points. The Aggies quickly found momentum with junior
Lauren Kolbe, who earned the first point in the event with an 81 on Courtage, beating her opponent by 5 points. Sophomore
Carmen Gonzalez followed with a 71 on Stallone to secure another point for the Aggies. Closing out the event, sophomore
Anna Donovan delivered the highest Flat score of the day, a standout 83 aboard Calvigo, to give UC Davis the 3-2 win in the event.
Kolbe opened Fences with a strong 77 on Ronan, coming within just two points of her opponent. Sophomore
Sabine Close matched that 77 on Tony to earn the Aggies' first point in the event. Sophomore
Chloe Fares added another win with an impressive 83 aboard Otis, the highest score of the event. Despite the strong showing, Oklahoma State narrowly took the discipline 3-2.
In Horsemanship, senior
Katya Dundas led UC Davis with a 74.5 aboard Henry—the highest score of the event—to secure the team's lone point in the event. The Aggies remained competitive throughout the lineup, with junior
Kylie Jacobson earning a 70, sophomore
Eliza Plum earning a 74, and sophomore
Ada Hirschfeld earning a 73, all shy by just one point against their opponent.
The Aggies closed the meet with several hard-fought rides in Reining. Junior
Mylea Trimble opened with a 71 on Penny, falling by just half a point. Senior
Mya Clader matched that 71 aboard Mr. T, tying Trimble for the highest score of the event and falling short by only a point and a half, capping the fall season with a hard-fought performance for the Aggies.
