DAVIS, Calif. - With tipoff only 12 days away, UC Davis women's basketball is building momentum as the team prepares for its season opener against William Jessup.
With three freshmen and four sophomores on the roster, the team continues to build momentum for the future as it transitions from the Big West into the Mountain West.
Freshman - Carrington Davis
A four-year player on the varsity team at Rialto High School, Davis brings a wealth of experience at the high school level, leading the Knights to a CIF championship with 24.4 PPG as a sophomore.
After being named a captain prior to her junior season, she continued to get even better, bumping her scoring average to 28.8 PPG to go along with 11.6 RPG and 4.7 APG.
Freshman - Emmy Ersdala
Ersdala comes to Davis from the Norrköping Dolphins, a club that plays in the Basketligan, the highest professional basketball league in Sweden. In Summer 2024, Ersdala represented her home country in the 2024 FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket.
Through seven games with the Swedish National Team, she was the team's leading scorer, averaging 10.3 points and 4.3 rebounds. She also competed with the U18 national team in the Baltic Sea Basketball Cup in the 2023-24 season. Last season, Ersdala was also awarded the MVP of the European Girls Basketball League U20 league.
Freshman - Sophie Lentfer
Joining the Aggies from Anchorage, Alaska, Lentfer brings a wealth of experience to the squad, collecting the 2023-24 Gatorade Alaska Girls Basketball Player of the Year award following a junior season leading Grace Christian to a 21-3 record and a spot in the Peninsula Conference Tournament.
During the season, Lentfer averaged 21.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and three steals, along with a spot on the Alaska All-State team.
Sophomore - Ryann Bennett
A Big West All-Freshman selection a season ago, Bennett emerged as a high-level contributor in 2024-25, finishing fourth on the team with 6.4 points per game while averaging 1.6 assists and one steal per game.
In the Aggies' regular-season finale against UC San Diego on March 8, Bennett exploded for a career-high 19 points on seven-of-nine shooting to lead her team to a win and first-round bye in the 2025 Big West Tournament.
Sophomore - Avery Sussex
Entering her second season for the Aggies, Sussex is coming off a freshman year where she averaged eight minutes and 3.5 points per game while finishing second on the team with an 81.3% free throw percentage and fourth from three at 34.4%.
Her season-high came on Dec. 8 against Cal Maritime, where she finished with 11 points. Sussex scored in double figures on back-to-back contests against Idaho and Cal Maritime.
Redshirt Sophomore - Sahana Kanagasabay
Battling injuries over the last two seasons, the transfer from Providence looks to breakout in her second year with the Aggies.
In limited action last season, she appeared in 14 games for the Aggies, averaging five minutes per game. Her best game came on December 28 against Cal Maritime, where she scored ten points on five-of-five shooting while grabbing three rebounds.
Redshirt Sophomore - Theoni Tsami
After redshirting her first season with UC Davis, Tsami spent last year battling through injuries, looking to get back on the court. With less than two weeks till the season, she looks to play in her first contest in the blue and gold this year.
