DAVIS, Calif. — After back-to-back home victories over UC San Diego and Long Beach State, UC Davis volleyball standouts
Mia Starr and
Breeze Czapinski have earned Big West Player of the Week honors.
Starr was named Setter of the Week for the second consecutive week, while Czapinski claimed her first career Offensive Player of the Week award.
In Thursday's reverse sweep over UC San Diego, Starr powered the Aggie offense with a season-high-tying 48 assists. She followed up with another standout performance on Saturday in a first-place showdown against Long Beach State, recording a 46-assist, 15-dig double-double—her fifth of the season. The two matches marked her third and fourth outings this year with 45 or more assists.
Czapinski made an immediate impact off the bench against the Tritons, tallying 14 kills across four sets. She then led the Aggies with 17 kills in Saturday's four-set win over the Beach. These performances marked her fourth and fifth double-digit kill totals of the season.
Thanks to these efforts, UC Davis has opened Big West play with a perfect 6–0 record—its best start in program history—and currently sits alone atop the conference standings.
