Horio Named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week

DAVIS, Calif. — UC Davis senior midfielder Declan Horio has been named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week after scoring in both matches of an unbeaten week against the conference's top two teams.

The Honolulu native finished with two goals and four points, helping the Aggies defeat UNLV 2-1 on Wednesday before rallying from a two-goal deficit for a 2-2 draw at conference-leading GCU on Sunday. He put three of his four shots on target across the two matches.

Horio gave UC Davis an early lead against UNLV, finishing a pass from Tristan Wouters at the 8:05 mark. The Aggies never trailed, adding a second goal before halftime and holding off the Rebels to secure three conference points at Aggie Soccer Field.

Four days later, Horio helped ignite the Aggies' second-half comeback at GCU. With UC Davis trailing 2-0, he scored off an assist from Demetrius Egorerua in the 72nd minute to bring the Aggies within a goal. Ronaldo Melgoza followed with the equalizer in the 81st minute, completing the rally and earning UC Davis a road point.
