Aggies Fall to Top Two Teams in the Nation

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Aggies battled versus the first and second- ranked teams from the CWPA polls, testing their early-season skills during the Berkeley-based showdowns.

Despite UCLA being ranked top of the nation and Stanford close behind in second, the Ags charged towards the challenge with drive and determination, fighting until the last clock's buzz.

Junior Madison Sparre and senior Sam Yoo ended the day with four goals each. Sophomore Chelsea Johnson led the team in assists with three, and redshirt Junior Gianna Nocetti was an all-around threat; logging three goals, two assists, and won five of six sprints - winning all four versus the Stanford Cardinal.

Final Score: UC Davis 8, UCLA 17

HOW IT HAPPENED (UCLA):
Junior Madison Sparre was quick on the draw against the Bruins, her shot finding the back of the net in the first thirty seconds of play. Sparre quickly put a second goal away in the first quarter, holding her own versus the Bruin charge. Sophomore Ali Giusti beat the expiring clock with a goal in the final four seconds on the powerplay, making the score 3-4 after the first quarter.

Sophomore Sadie Henry came in with energy and tied up the score 4-4 early in the second quarter. She repeated the action, collecting a second goal.

Goalkeeper Eva Stein collected four blocks in the first half, while Lucy Holland collected five saves; shutting down the Bruin scoring attempts. Kelly Hungerford, Lillie Vehling, and Liberty Massman also tallied up a block apiece.

Hungerford and sophomore Chelsea Johnson also registered two assists each to fuel the Aggie offense. Gianna Nocetti also added two goals to the tally and Sam Yoo converted a penalty shot in the fourth quarter. Freshman Georgia Daly drew a team-high of two exclusions versus UCLA's defense.

Final Score: UC Davis 8, Stanford 18

HOW IT HAPPENED (STANFORD):
Madison Sparre broke the seal and scored the first goal for the second game in a row, following with Sam Yoo finding the cage soon after.

Gianna Nocetti was quick at the jump, going 4-0 on the sprints versus the Cardinal to give her team the first possession of the ball. She also is credited for a goal, an assist, and a steal.

Sophomore dynamic duo Bridget Miller and Ashley Wallin both registered a goal and a steal against Stanford, aiding the team in their climb back up the offensive ladder.

Sparre and Yoo ended up with two goals apiece, and center Alison Giusti converted her second goal of the day in the game against the Cardinal.
