Box Score 2 As the debut weekend of the 2025 season draws to a close, the Aggies finish competition with three wins and one loss at the Cross-Conference Challenge.
"There is always a lot of excitement around the first games of the season and first travel trip," reflects head coach Kandace Waldthaler. "Our goals for this weekend were to play with energy and grow from each opportunity to play."
"We were strong on Saturday offensively and defensively, but today we struggled a little more on the offensive end," states Waldthaler. The Ags deposited am impressive total of 38 goals across the two games.
'We battled back against SDSU after being down most of the game. I'm proud of our growth this weekend and how we played as a team this weekend."
HOW IT HAPPENED (ASU):
After a battle against the hosting team, the Ags fell in the morning match against the ASU Sun Devils 8-10. Senior
Kelly Hungerford and sophomore
Chelsea Johnson were quick on the draw, scoring one apiece to bring the Aggies up to a swift 2-0 lead versus the Sun Devils.
Hungerford led the offensive efforts with a hat trick in the game, also earning an exclusion and a steal.
Redshirt junior
Gianna Nocetti added two to the scoreboard and handed out an assist.
Senior
Sam Yoo and sophomore
Sadie Henry rounded out the points for the Aggies, and redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Eva Stein shut down three Sun Devil scoring opportunities.
HOW IT HAPPENED (SDSU):
The Ags made an impressive comeback after an initial deficit starting from the first quarter, pulling ahead of the Aztecs for a final score of 13-11 to finish off the Sunday competition.
Junior
Lucy Holland headlined the efforts in the cage, blocking six shots fired her way by the Aztec offense.
Sophomore
Sadie Henry recorded a personal best, converting four goals in the game and adding an assist and earned exclusion.
Nocetti, sophomore
Bridget Miller, and senior
Maddie Sumner helped turn the tide of the game by scoring two goals each.
Sophomore
Ashley Wallin was a threat across the board, adding a goal, two steals, and drew two exclusions.
UP NEXT: The team will travel to Berkeley, California to compete in the Cal Cup on January 25th, facing off against top teams UCLA and Stanford.
