The short story: UC Davis women's tennis fought hard but ultimately lost 7-0 to Stanford. They secured a doubles victory and came incredibly close in the final three singles matches, marking the closest they've ever come to winning points against the Cardinal. 

COURTSIDE 

• Stanford took the early lead grabbing the doubles point and beating the Ags 2-1. 

• Aggies Claire Galerkin and Kaia Wolfe were the lone doubles winners for the Ags' third match in a row, beating their opponent out in an exciting game. 

• The Cardinal swept the Aggies in all singles matches. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Aggies opened up the morning with doubles where Solia Valentine and Polina Marakhtanova's match concluded first. The duo couldn't pull through dropping their match to the Cardinal. 

• The second doubles pair to conclude were Mika Ikemori and Isabella Bringas where they were unable to fend off their Stanford opponents. 

• The only pair to secure a doubles win were senior Claire Galerkin and junior Kaia Wolfe, this makes it their third win in a row as a pair. 

• On to singles, Ikemori, Valentine, and Wolfe, all fell first in their matches to the Cardinal. 

• Number six Penelope Wong fought hard taking her opponent to three sets, ultimately falling to the Cardinal. 

• Number three Youssef also took her opponent to three sets, fighting hard for a match point but ultimately losing the match. 

• The last to finish was freshman Polina Marakhtanova. Marakhtanova took her Cardinal opponent to three sets with multiple alternating match points but was unfortunately not able to fend off the Cardinal. 

• This was the closest the Aggies have come to taking match points against the Cardinal in program history.
