The short story: Leo Metzger paced UC Davis all weekend, and saved his best for last, carding a 2-under 70 to finish the tournament at even par, good for fifth place while leading UC Davis to a top-10 finish as the Aggies placed 8
th in the competitive field.
On day two, rain was persistent all throughout, and despite the challenging weather, Metzger and
Lucas Carper shines, as the pair slotted within the top-10 of the leaderboards. On day one of the 2024 El Macero Classic, both Carper and Metzger found themselves within the top-five of the individual leaderboard while collectively, UC Davis slotted in fifth place. Battling through the windy conditions out on the course, a testament to the Aggies strong start in their host tournament was the inclusion of three other Aggies within the top-50 leaderboard after 18 holes.

FINAL TEE BOX (DAY THREE)
- Metzger was brilliant, carding two birdies and an eagle on hole eight to fuel his 2-under 70 round
- Carper secured another top-20 finish this season, using steady play in round three as he carded a 2-over 74
- Mark Stephens and Treed Huang both were at 3-over 75 today and rounded out the scoring for the Aggie lineup, as the pair combined for five birdies
- Jacob Westberg concluded his final tournament at El Macero with a memorable eagle on hole 14, capping off his 3-over 75 day
- Alejandro Nava captured a top-30 finish, placing tied for 29th as he scored an Aggie-high six birdies today
- Darren Chiu responded with his best round of the tournament, carding a 1-under 71 with two birdies to place tied for 66th
IN THE FAIRWAY (DAY TWO)
- Leo Metzger used a strong final six holes, which included two birdies to remain right within the hunt for the individual crown
- Metzger currently is at 2-over and trails the two leaders by just two strokes
- Lucas Carper displayed pure consistency like he has all season, rattling off 11 straight holes in which he went for par or better
- Carper is tied for 10th in the field
- Mark Stephens bounced back in a big way during round two, capping off his 1-over 73 with consecutive birdies, climbing up 42 spots
- Treed Huang and Jacob Westberg battled through the rain as well, with Huang collecting two birdies in his round while Westberg delivered three birdies
- Alejandro Nava bounced back from battling the elements on the front-nine and delivered nearly flawless golf on the back-nine to maintain his status among the top-50, where he currently slots tied for 30th
- Darren Chiu finished today with a 9-over 81, highlighted by a birdie on hole five
FIRST TEE (DAY ONE)
- Lucas Carper and Leo Metzger were among the best in the field today, with both tied for fourth place at 1-over 73
- Carper's stellar round was fueled by an eagle on hole 15
- Carper and Metzger combined for five birdies as UC Davis' lineup finished with 12 total
- Treed Huang and Jacob Westberg slotted in right within the top-50, tying for 49th place after day one
- Huang enjoyed success in the early portions of his round, carding all three of his birdies on the day on the front-nine
- Mark Stephens rounded out the Aggie lineup, securing a birdie on his first hole, and eventually finishing the day tied for 89th at 10-over 82
- Alejandro Nava and Darren Chiu battled it out as individuals, with Nava putting together a strong 3-over 75 to place tied for 20th
- Nava led all Aggies on the day with five birdies, starting his round off with two in a row
- Chiu fired an 8-over 80 and is tied for 70th, using a strong back-nine performance with two birdies and pars on the seven other holes to give him plenty of momentum heading into day two
