UC Davis Women’s Lacrosse Joins Big 12 as Affiliate Member

DAVIS, Calif. — UC Davis has accepted an invitation to join Big 12 women's lacrosse as an affiliate member for the 2024-2025 inaugural season. 

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to join the Big 12 as an inaugural member," states Head Coach Suzanne Isidor. "The Big 12 Conference has an incredible history in many sports and we feel honored to be among the teams representing it for the first time in women's lacrosse. We look forward to the high-level competition and continuing to grow the game nationally." 

The Aggies will be an affiliate member along with the University of Florida and San Diego State. The trio of universities will join Big 12 member institutions Arizona State, Cincinnati, and Colorado. Women's lacrosse will be the 24th sport sponsored by the league.

"We are honored to have our women's lacrosse program join the Big 12 Conference as an affiliate member beginning in 2025," said UC Davis Director of Athletics Rocko DeLuca. "As our program continues to build, the Big 12 is a great fit to challenge our student-athletes and to align our athletics program with some of the country's best. We look forward to our inaugural season in the Big 12 and we are grateful for the opportunity."

The regular season will consist of a single round robin with Saturday conference games starting March 29th, 2025 and ending Saturday April 26th, 2025. The top four teams will qualify for the Big 12 Conference Championship May 1 & 3, 2025 held at Prentup Field on the University of Colorado campus.

UC Davis women's lacrosse is currently an affiliate member of the Pac-12 conference, which will forgo sponsorship of the sport at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 season.

Coming off an 8-6 record in 2023, the Aggies are currently 2-1 on the season after defeating San Diego State University 19-11 on February 17th. Next game is at home, UC Davis Health Stadium, verse Lindenwood on Sunday February 25th at 1pm.

Established in 1996, The Big 12 is in its 28th year as one of the nation's premier athletic conferences under the direction of Commissioner Brett Yormark. The Big 12 is currently comprised of 14 institutions after welcoming BYU, UCF, Cincinnati and Houston on July 1, 2023. The conference will grow to 16 in 2024-2025 as they welcome Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah. The additions from 2023 and 2024 will join remaining members Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas Christian, Texas Tech and West Virginia.
