Aggies Finish Final Round of The Prestige

LA QUINTA, Calif. — UC Davis men's golf finished The Prestige in 21st place as the Aggies improved their total round score each and every day throughout the tournament. The Aggies were 6-over 290 as a team today with Mark Stephens highlighting the pack.

DAY THREE
Stephens was 1-under 70 with four birdies. Stephens finished the week as the top Aggie, tying for 45th place, rating out as the lone Aggie among the top-50 on the leaderboard.

Leo Metzger and Lucas Carper slotted in right behind Stephens, tying for 94th as Metzger carded an even-par 71 today while Carper was at 3-over 74. Metzger's day was filled with consistency, leading the Aggies with a team-high 16 pars. Carper had two birdies to go along 12 pars.

Treed Huang completed the Aggies scoring during round three with a 4-over 75, delivering a team-high five birdies during round three.

Jacob Westberg completed his run at The Prestige with a 7-over 78, coming away with two birdies.

Individually, Alejandro Nava placed tied for 11th place as he finished his day with a 2-over 74. Nava's strong start helped fuel his top-15 finish in the competitive field.

Darren Chiu finished his tournament at 1-over par as he tied for 21st place in the field. His 3-over par 75 today was accompanied by two birdies which he achieved in consecutive holes.

The Aggies will be back in action at the end of March as UC Davis will take part in The Goodwin at Harding Park GC in San Francisco from March 28th through the 30th.

DAY TWO
The second round of The Prestige saw some movement in the leaderboard, as Treed Huang and Leo Metzger both improved their scores from round one, shooting 1-over par 73 respectively. Their scores would lead UC Davis on the day.

Huang tallied four birdies in his round, recording three straight at one point as he dominated holes 14-16.

Metzger had three birdies on the day with each of them coming on par 4s.

Mark Stephens and Lucas Carper finished the day at 2-over 73 and 3-over 74, respectively. Stephens had two birdies on the day while Carper had one birdie to go along with an Aggie-high 15 pars.

Westberg rounded out the Aggies effort in the second round, shooting 6-over 77.

The Aggies slipped slightly on the leaderboards, dropping down one spot to 22nd place, shooting a 7-over 291. This score would though prove to be a better result comparatively to UC Davis' first round performance, beating out the Aggies day one score by one stroke.

After two rounds, Huang and Metzger are tied for 68th place. Stephens is tied for 81st, Carper is tied for 92nd, and Westberg is tied for 110th on the leaderboard.

On the individual side of things, Alejandro Nava and Darren Chin kept their foots on the gas, with Nava finding himself tied for 4th place after a 1-over 73, and Chiu tied for 6th after a even par 72.

Chiu and Nava each carded three birdies today, with Chiu able to rattle off two straight on holes 17 and 18.

DAY ONE
Mark Stephens posted a 71 in the first round of The Prestige Monday, leading the Aggies at the par-71, 7,100-yard PGA West Greg Norman Golf Course during day one.

Two other Aggies are right within two shots of Stephens, as Treed Huang and Lucas Carper sit at 2-over 73, while Jacob Westberg is at 4-over 75. Leo Metzger also turned in a 7-over 78.

Stephens is tied for 37th after day one, while Huang and Carper find themselves tied for 62nd. Westberg slots in tied for 87th and Metzger enters day two tied for 110th.

The Aggies, as a team, are tied for 21st with San Francisco, finishing at 8-over 292.

Stephens, Carper and Westberg all added three birdies to pace UC Davis in that department today. Metzger and Huang each tallied two to the Aggie total as UC Davis' lineup finished with 13 as a team during the first day.

On the individual side of things, Alejandro Nava and Darren Chin both shined.

Nava currently sits in tied for 2nd place after carding a 4-under 68. Nava was dialed in all-day, recording seven birdies with two pairs of them coming on back to back holes.

Chiu is tied for 5th at 2-under 70 and his day was highlighted by three birdies and an astounding eagle on the 576 yard par 5.
