SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Leading by just one goal at the half, the UC Davis women's lacrosse team turned in a stellar performance in the final 30 minutes to knock-off San Diego State 19-11 at the Aztec Lacrosse Field in San Diego. The win is the Aggies' (2-1) first on the road this season, and their second straight.
Grace Gebhardt turned in a masterclass of a game, netting six goals and dishing out two assists. This performance comes on the heels of her one goal, four assist showing last weekend against Akron.
Gebhardt was supported by Cami Johnson, Rhea Cosand and Regan Arkless, who each had hat tricks. Johnson chipped in three assists and five ground balls as well.
Alannah Scott and Ella Brislin each scored twice and collected eight ground balls, ensuring a total of sixteen Aggie possessions.
Ashley Laing had a fine day's work between the pipes, recording five saves and scooping six ground balls.
UC Davis jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before the Aztecs were able to mount a response to draw within one early in the second period.
The Aggies rattled off two straight, but San Diego State remained unfazed, rattling off their own three goal run to tie the game at five.
UC Davis came out of the half reenergized, scoring five goals to the Aztecs' two in the third quarter. The visiting Aggies came out for an encore in the fourth, scoring six of the final seven goals to put the contest safely out of reach.
The Aggies are back home next weekend to start a three game homestand. First up is Lindenwood on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 1:00 p.m.
