DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Davis women's water polo team split their games on day two of the Aggie Invite, defeating UC Merced in a 24-2 blowout and falling 13-10 to No. 17 Pacific at Schaal Aquatics Center on Sunday. 

UC Davis opened the morning with three quick goals against Pacific, but the visitors chipped away, and the first period ended with the Aggie advantage at one, 4-3.

Pacific rattled off two straight to take their first lead of the game early in the second before Liberty Massman and Ashley Salem scored to help settle things down. The Aggies went into the halftime break tied at 6.

Both sides exchanged goals in the third and the even score persisted into the final seconds of the third period, when Pacific's Hila Futorian found the back of the net to take an 11-10 lead. Futorian finished with six goals and an assist.

Pacific dominated the fourth quarter, shutting down the Aggie offense and scoring twice. 

Gianna Nocetti finished the game with three assists, while Liberty Massman scored twice. Grace Pelkey had a hat trick and Nellie McAdams made seven saves in the goal.

UC Davis cruised in game two, as eight players posted multi-goal games. Bridget Miller had four goals and Sarah Ellis-Keeler and Nocetti each had a hat trick to lead the Aggies.

Salem and Maddie Sumner collected four assists each, almost half of the Aggies' 20 team assists.

UC Davis is back in action next weekend to host Cal at Schaal Aquatics Center. The game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
