Box Score DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Davis women's water polo team pushed the No. 4 ranked Stanford Cardinal to the brink on Saturday afternoon at Schaal Aquatics Center. The No. 14 Aggies ultimately fell 13-10 to the visitors.

UC Davis (1-10) put together a well-rounded team effort, with nine different players finding the back of the net and assists coming on seven of the ten scores. 

Both sides traded goals to open the game, with Grace Pelkey tying the contest at four each with a backhanded shot at the end of the first period. 

The second period was all Stanford, as the Cardinal built out an imposing four goal lead. Tess Fundter provided the lone Aggies goal in the period. 

The Aggies came out of the halftime break a new team, rattling off four straight goals to tie the game at nine. Bridget Miller and Gianna Nocetti each scored before Liberty Massman put in two goals in two straight possessions. Ashley Salem scored with seconds left in the period to maintain the even score after Stanford broke up the UC Davis scoring run.

Stanford flipped the script in the fourth, dominating on defense and keeping the Aggies out of the goal. Stanford's Sophie Wallace posted a personal fourth quarter hat trick to secure the win for the Cardinal.

Nellie McAdams spent the entire game in the goal, racking up eight saves and snagging two steals.

The Aggies are back on Sunday morning for a 10:00 a.m. showdown with No. 17 Pacific and return at 12:30 p.m. to play UC Merced.
