WHAT HEAD COACH DAN CONNERS HAS TO SAY
"Santa Barbara really brought it tonight, they put a lot of pressure on us and I was really proud of the way we fought and bounced back from some deficits. I think we made a few too many errors tonight, but sometimes it goes that way and we found a way to win, and I'm really proud of the determination we showed."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Set one was all Aggies early on, with Davis capping a 5-0 run to hold a 14-8 lead halfway through the set.
  • Santa Barbara looked to respond with a scoring run of their own, but a service ace from Olivia Utterbeck helped elevate Davis to a 25-17 set win.
  • Tied at 7 early in the second, the Gauchos took seven of eight points to hold a 14-8 lead. The Aggies looked to respond but UC Santa Barbara never looked back, taking set two 25-19.
  • The third set was similar to the first, with the Aggies scoring early and often before a couple of scoring runs put the Gauchos within two.
  • With Davis up 20-18, they would put together the last five points in the set and take a 2-1 match lead with a 25-18 win.
  • With their backs against the wall, Santa Barbara came out strong in the fourth, putting together three separate scoring runs of 3-0 or better to claim the set 25-18 and push the match to a decisive fifth set.
  • After giving up the first three points of the fifth, the Aggies got back into it with a 5-0 scoring run that pushed both teams to switch sides.
  • Now on the other side of the court, UC Davis continued to fight, scoring seven of the last eight and winning the final set 15-8 to secure the match.

UP NEXT: UC Davis will wrap up the regular season in their Senior Day match versus Cal Poly on Saturday, Nov. 23 with both teams vying for the number one seed in next week's Big West Volleyball Tournament. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m. PT.
