WHAT HEAD COACH JENNIFER GROSS HAS TO SAY
"This is always such a fun rivalry matchup. Going back to when I played here, the veterans talked a lot about how much this game meant for the alumni and the school. Anytime there's a rivalry there's always a lot of energy going into the game, and I was proud of the team for competing for fourty minutes. We had some things to clean up from the last game and I thought we put a lot of emphasis on that, and we're really happy to come away with the win."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams came out of the gate strong, exchanging points through the first five minutes before an offensive explosion led by 10 points by Megan Norris gave the Aggies a ten-point lead after the first frame.
- UC Davis continued to ride their momentum into the second quarter, with two three-pointers from Tova Sabel allowing her team to hold a 42-31 lead going into the locker room.
- Defense was key in the third for the Aggies, holding the Hornets to only seven points throughout the quarter.
- The third also saw action from several different Aggies, with offense coming from Norris, Sabel, Nya Epps, and Mazatlan Harris.
- A layup from Sydney Burns opened the fourth quarter.
- Sophomore Clara Glad subbed in with seven minutes remaining, hitting a triple only a few plays later.
- Late in the game, UC Davis went to the line often, cashing on seven free throws in the last two minutes of regulation.
UP NEXT: The Aggies will hit the road once again as the team heads south to take on the Santa Clara Broncos. The game is set to go on Sunday, Nov. 24, with tipoff scheduled for 2:00 p.m. PT.
