DAVIS, Calif. - Head Coach
Jennifer Gross and the UC Davis women's basketball team have signed three players set to join the team in the 2025-26 season, with Carrington Davis, Sophie Lentfer, and Emmy Ersdala joining the Aggie family.
Carrington Davis (Guard/ 5'10"/Rialto, Calif./Rialto High School)
Carrington joins the team from Rialto High School, where she has played on the varsity team since her freshman year. In her sophomore year, Carrington led all scorers with 24.4 PPG on the way to a CIF Championship for the Knights, also being named the CIF Southern Section 4AA Player of the Year. As a captain in her junior year, Davis got even better, bumping her scoring average up to 28.8 to go along with 11.6 RPG and 4.7 APG.
Jen Gross on Davis:
"Carrington is a talented guard who is an excellent decision-maker and creative finisher at the rim. In addition, she is a strong 3-point shooter, making her a great fit in our offense. We also envision Carrington using her toughness and strong basketball instincts to give us a boost on the defensive end of the floor."
Sophie Lentfer (Guard/6'0"/Anchorage, Alaska/Grace Christian High School)
Joining the Aggies from Anchorage, Alaska, Lentfer brings a wealth of experience to the squad, collecting the 2023-24 Gatorade Alaska Girls Basketball Player of the Year award following a junior season leading Grace Christian to a 21-3 record and a spot in the Peninsula Conference Tournament. During the season, Lentfer averaged 21.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and three steals along with a spot on the Alaska All-State team.
Gross on Lentfer:
"The first time we saw Sophie play we knew right away that she would be a perfect fit for our system. She is a physical player who can post up smaller guards but is equally as comfortable attacking the basket. Sophie is an excellent 3-point shooter and a great playmaker. Altogether, this versatile skillset will make her a very tough matchup for our opponents."
Emmy Ersdala (Guard/6'1"/Vasteras, Sweden/Norrköping Dolphins/Swedish National Team U18)
Ersdala comes to Davis from the Norrköping Dolphins, a club that plays in the Basketligan, the highest professional basketball league in Sweden. This past summer, Ersdala represented her home country in the 2024 FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket. Through seven games with the Swedish National Team, she was the team's leading scorer, averaging 10.3 points and 4.3 rebounds. She also competed with the U18 national team in the Baltic Sea Basketball Cup last winter. Last season, Ersdala was also awarded the MVP of the European Girls Basketball League U20 league.Â
Coach Gross on Ersdala:
"Emmy is a fantastic addition to our team. She is a long, skilled wing who can score in a variety of ways, create for teammates, and defend multiple positions. She is also a tremendous 3-point shooter with deep range. Emmy's experience playing with the Swedish national team as well as her club team have prepared her to have an immediate impact at the next level."
"While all three will be great players on the court," Gross said. "We are even more excited about their personalities and character. They are excellent students in the classroom, selfless by nature, and they understand the importance of building strong relationships with teammates. All in all, they are tremendous people who fit our UC Davis culture perfectly and we are very excited they will be Aggies!"
