Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FRESNO, Calif. — The UC Davis women's water polo team fell to 0-4 after four losses to top 10 teams at the Fresno State hosted Polo-Palooza. The Aggies closed out the opening weekend of the 2024 season with losses to No. 5 UC Irvine and No. 1 Stanford. 

After dropping games to No. 4 Cal and No. 9 Fresno State on Saturday, the Aggies opened well against conference foe UC Irvine. Gianna Nocetti notched a goal early in the first period to draw even with the Anteaters.

Midway through the first period the UC Irvine offense began to click and the Anteaters rallied for a 5-0 run. 

Bridget Miller scored twice in the second period to keep the Aggies within five at the half, and a goal from Liberty Massman to open the second half brought UC Davis within four. 

The Anteaters put in the next three scores, building a lead that too much for UC Davis to overcome, even with goals from Sam Yoo, Kelly Hungerford and Ali Giusti before the final buzzer.

The top ranked Stanford Cardinal controlled the Aggies' second game of the day wire-to-wire, building out a 10-1 lead midway through the third quarter, finishing with a commanding 20-4 victory. 

UC Davis goal scorers were Grace Pelkey, Ally Smith, Ashley Salem and Sam Yoo.

The Aggies are back in action next weekend for the Cal Cup in Berkeley, Calif.
