Davis, Calif. — After scoring a season-high five goals in the first win of the season yesterday, the UC Davis field hockey team was blanked by Ohio State, losing 5-0 to the host Buckeyes.
With today's match in Columbus concluding their three-game road trip, UC Davis had a tall task against the red-hot Buckeyes squad who has now improved to 5-0 on the season.
Yesterday it was
Lizzy Tedrow who impacted the entire game for UC Davis, scoring the game-winning goal, setting up her teammates, and drawing the crucial penalty stroke to give the Aggies their first win. Today,
Zoe Mohrman was a bright spot for the Aggies.
Mohrman registered her first defensive save of the season and also was responsible for one of the three Aggies shots to be on target.
Despite the loss,
Sarah Lopez continues to put up gaudy save numbers, collecting another 17 saves today against the Buckeyes. The junior in her first season as the full-time starter has been consistently challenged at the goal and has excelled at saving shots given the sheer number of attempts coming in her direction.
The Buckeyes secured today's victory by scoring goals in all four periods, with the fourth and final quarter being the standout in which two goals came across.
Makenna Webster and Brenna Bough each had two goals for Ohio State while Zella Bailey rounded out the scoring in the 58th minute.
