Durham, N.H. — UC Davis wrapped up its two-game East-Coast trip with New Hampshire Sunday afternoon, as the host Wildcats ran away with a 7-1 victory.
Tasmin Cookman paced the Wildcats, recording a hat-trick with New Hampshire also receiving goals from Louette Petiet, Nicole Poulakis, Lindsay Lee, and Lily Rothwell.
Lizzy Tedrow provided the offense for UC Davis, giving the Aggies their lone score. The goal brings Tedrow's season tally to three on the year, tied for first among all Aggies alongside junior forward
Audrey Lee.
Immediate action in this East Coast affair saw New Hampshire initiate the scoring efforts, finding the back of the net twice within the first 10 minutes to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead. Needing a response, Tedrow quickly brought the deficit to just one goal during the 12th minute.
Deep in the New Hampshire backline, the Wildcat backers were trying to swing the ball toward the middle of the field and reset the flow of their possession. That was when Tedrow was able to shoot the gap and jump right in front of the New Hampshire center-midfielder and steal the entry pass, giving her a clear runway at the net where she fired her shot to beat the Wildcat keeper with a goal that tucked into the upper-right quadrant.
The Aggies maintained their energy and effort to keep the game within striking distance but were unable to get the ball to bounce in their favor.
Allowing only two penalty corners all game, and able to get up seven shots with three coming on goal, UC Davis had multiple opportunities but were taken out of the game by Cookman and her unanswered hat-trick during the second quarter.
New Hampshire would run away with a 6-1 lead entering half-time and score one more goal during the fourth to cap off the game.
