DAVIS, Calif – UC Davis women's basketball will depart for its 10-day preseason foreign tour to Italy, featuring three tune-up games to prepare for the 2023-24 season.
The Aggies will embark on their journey with a flight into Rome on Aug. 10 before the team will taking a guided walking tour of the capital city the following day. In the afternoon, the squad will conclude the walking tour with entrance into historic Colosseum.
On Aug. 12, the Aggies will put on their chef hats for a pasta-making workshop and lunch at 'Oste Cavour Restaurant in Rome. Then, the team will make their way to Vatican City to see the sights of the Vatican Museum, St. Peter's Basilica, and Sistine Chapel.
Basketball ensues on the third day of the trip when UC Davis will face off against Spain Elite in the afternoon.
The Aggies will spend some time in Florence on day four before heading to Lucca for a bike tour on Tuesday, Aug. 15. In the afternoon, the team will make way to the beach at Lido di Camaiore for some much-needed relaxation.
On day six, the Aggies will head to the world-renowned Galleria dell'Accademia di Firenze or "Gallery of the Academy of Florence". After some more sight-seeing in Florence, the Aggies will hit the hardwood for their second game, taking on Breidablik of Iceland.
Verona will be the next destination as the Aggies will enter Juliet's House on the seventh day of the foreign tour. On day eight, the squad will embark on a kayak tour on Lake Garda, starting from Peschiera del Garda.
The Aggies will spend some more time on the water on day nine, taking a private boat cruise on Lake Como. The third and final game of the trip will take place that evening, wrapping up the preseason tour in Italy as the team will fly back the United States on Aug. 20.
