Davis, Calif. — UC Davis field hockey dropped Monday evening's contest against the visiting Maryland Terps, 6-0, wrapping up a three game home-stand Aggie Field Hockey Facility.
After narrowly being edged out by Miami(OH) on Saturday, the Aggies were unable to find the same success against the No. 3 ranked Terps.
The Aggies had their hands full with Hope Rose who paced Maryland with two goals in the game. A member of the 2022-23 USA Women's National Team, Rose brings her season goal total to five after just three games.
Not the result UC Davis wanted, the Aggies had multiple scoring opportunities that they can take as positives.
UC Davis had the eight shots during the game, three more than their previous team high of five.
With half of the Aggies shots being on target, Zoe Mohrman, Lizzy Tedrow, Liselotte Koop, and Skylar Richards all had clean looks at the goal with chances to lessen the deficit. Mohrman would finish with a team-high three shots.
Most of these shots came from the Aggies ability to draw penalty corners, something that hadn't been as prevalent in the first two contests. UC Davis flipped the script against one of the best teams in the country, as the Aggies were able to generate four penalty corner's, doubling their total from the prior two games. Unfortunately unable to convert on each of those four occasions, UC Davis has to be pleased with the progress and will surely cash in on these occasions as the season moves forward.
UC Davis faced a stout defense as Alyssa Klebsko and Paige Kieft in goal for Maryland combined for four saves.
On the Aggie side, Sarah Lopez and Emma Giesting who made her collegiate debut, totaled for seven saves.

With the early barrage of games to start the season, UC Davis will enjoy some much needed rest, and get to escape the California heat, as UC Davis has a three game road trip spanning from Sept. 1-Sept. 4.
Starting off in Ann Arbor, UC Davis will take on the Michigan Wolverines, Friday, Sept. 1 at 3:00 p.m. PT. After that, UC Davis will take on the Kent State, and wrap up their trip against Ohio State.
The Aggies will be back at Aggie Field Hockey Facility on Sunday, Sept. 10 when UC Davis hosts Richmond.
