CHANDLER, ARIZ.– The UC Davis men's golf team sits alone in eight place after two consecutive rounds of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic. UC Davis has three golfers placed in the top-50, with two of those players among the top-30 after two-rounds of play. The squad fired for rounds of 278 and 299 to conclude the day with a two-round score of 1-over 577.
Lucas Carper led the way for the Ags as he's tied for eighth overall. The junior showed-out in the first two rounds, as he carded his best round of the season with 7-under 65 in the first round. Carper hit seven of his 10 birdies during that first round. He would cap off round-two at 3-over 75, to finish with a two-round score of 4-under 140.
Junior
Mark Stephens placed tied for 21
st for the Aggies. Stephens made par in the first-round with a score of 72 and sank in three birdies. In the second round Stephens carded five-birdies and an eagle to go 1-under 71. Going into the final round Stephens has a two-round score of 1-under 143.
Jacob Westberg kept it going for the Ags as the junior is tied for 35
th. Westberg went 4-under 68 in the first round and carded six-birdies to go along with it. In the second round, the junior would card three more birdies, but finish 5-over 77 for a two-round score of 1-over 145.
Freshman
Darren Chiu is tied for 90
th place, as he carded rounds of 77 and 76 for a two-round score of 9-over 153.
To round out the Ags
Alejandro Nava is tied for 93
rd. The Junior carded rounds 73 and 81 to finish with a two-round score of 10-over 154.
UC Davis returns to the 7,334-yard, par-72 course tomorrow for the third and final round of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic. To follow along:
