Box Score SAN DIEGO, Calif. – UC Davis made it back-to-back victories after a dominant 18-8 victory over Kent State.
The Aggies (2-1) scored the first six goals of the contest and never looked back, cruising to their second win of the year. UC Davis out-shot the Golden Flashes 38-22 while putting 33 of those shots on frame in an impressive offensive showing.
Alannah Scott picked up a team-high five ground balls, a category in which UC Davis held a 29-20 advantage.
The Aggies held an 18-11 edge on draw controls, dictating the pace of the match.
Ella Brislin turned in an excellent performance, leading the Aggies with four goals on the day. She also dished out one assist while notching a game-high six draw controls.
Alex Agnew recorded her first hat trick of the season in her four-point haul. The senior handed out one assist and scooped up four ground balls in the win.
Lauren Picardi,
Regan Arkless, and Scott tallied two goals each while
Annie Cimperman found the back of the net for the first time in her career.
How It Happened
UC Davis quickly took control of the match with six unanswered goals in the first period. Brislin and Arkless eached scored twice to put the Aggies out in front before Picardi and Scott rounded out the first quarter scoring.
Kent State finally ended its scoring drought and eventually found its footing by scoring three straight goals to cut the lead in half. UC Davis replied, however, when Agnew hit the Golden Flashes for two consecutive goals to make it a five-goal cushion.
The Aggies out-scored Kent State 6-1 in the third period as
Rhea Cosand and
Lauren Hart got in on the action, giving their team a nine-goal edge heading into the last 15 minutes.
UC Davis cruised the rest of the way as goals from
Brooke Tokushige,
Mia Lawrence, Scott, and Cimperman put the game to bed.
