Busy Week Ahead for UC Davis Women's Tennis

DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Davis women's tennis team (6-8, 2-2 Big West) has three conference matches lined up this week, beginning with Long Beach State this Tuesday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

Tuesday's matchup will break a tie in the standings between the two teams, determining who holds onto the sixth seed in the Big West, and who drops down to seventh. Long Beach State (6-7, 2-2 Big West) had lost four of their previous five matches before notching two consecutive victories last week.

Recent standouts for The Beach have been Rhona Cook and Sheena Masuda. Cook has come out on top in her last four singles contests, while Masuda has been the winner of her last five.

LATER THIS WEEK
The Aggies will take to the road for their next two matches, beginning with a Friday clash against Cal State Fullerton (9-5, 2-1 Big West) followed by a Saturday showdown with Cal State Northridge (13-3, 3-1 Big West).

UC Davis hasn't seen Fullerton since last year, when the Titans bounced the Aggies from the quarterfinals of the Big West conference tournament.

Northridge has been incredible over the last month and a half, winning 10 of their last 11 matches and temporarily rising to first in the Big West. A loss last Thursday, though, may have taken some of the wind out of the Matador's capes.

Friday's match is booked for 1:00 p.m., while Saturday's will start at noon.
