Davis, Calif. — The UC Davis Men's Basketball Team (15-12, 8-7 Big West) are back in action as they are set to host UC San Diego (9-18, 4-11 Big West). The last time these two squads faced off, UC Davis got the better of the Tritons, winning 78-70 back on Jan. 16 in San Diego.

The Aggies recorded a 1-1 week and still find themselves right in the middle of the Big West pack. Picking up a win against CSUN, they followed that up by seeing a resilient comeback effort come up just short against UC Irvine, losing by just two points to the top team in the Big West.

UC Davis has been riding the momentum of Elijah Pepper who is putting together maybe the best individual scoring season in Aggie history. He is currently ranked fifth in the country in points per game and has used a torrid streak of four straight games with 30+ points to fuel his historic year. Pepper has 575 points on the season, tied for fourth most in Aggie history for total points. He is 31 points away from having the most prolific scoring season in Aggie history. Another record on the radar for Pepper is the career scoring record as he trails all-time Aggie leader Audwin Thomas by 341 points for most points in a career.

As for UC San Diego, they also have the talents of a special scorer as Bryce Pope is the second leading scorer in the Big West, averaging an impressive 18.4 points per game. Much like the Aggies, UC San Diego possesses three scorers who rank in the top-25 of Big West leaders.

The Tritons just like the Aggies, enter Monday's contest fresh off a 1-1 week after a closely contested loss to Cal State Fullerton, 76-73 on Wednesday, before defeating CSUN 75-62 on Saturday.

UC San Diego is averaging 67.4 points per game, while surrendering 71.7 points per game on the defensive end.

UP NEXT
Following the game Monday, UC Davis will be on the road for two straight games with trips to Cal State Fullerton and Cal Poly.
