Max Arfsten Competes for MLS Cup Crown

DAVIS, Calif. – UC Davis men's soccer alum Max Arfsten will play for an MLS Cup title after his club – the Columbus Crew – earned a 3-2 win over FC Cincinnati in the Eastern Conference Championship to advance to the final.

Arfsten has made 13 appearances during the 2023 campaign with five total goal contributions in his first full season with Columbus. His most recent involvement was an excellent one-touch finish in the second leg of the squad's first-round matchup with Atlanta United, opening his MLS Playoffs account.

Prior to being selected with the 14th overall pick in the 2023 MLS Superdraft, Arfsten enjoyed a terrific career at UC Davis, as he was named to the 2019 Big West Conference All-Freshman Team before his brilliant final season in 2021 when he was named Big West Offensive Player of the Year. He finished second in the conference with eight goals while matching a league-best seven assists.

Arfsten and the Crew will compete for the crown on Dec. 9 when they face LAFC in the MLS Cup Final. The match will be broadcast on FOX, FOX Deportes, and streamed on Apple TV. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
