Men's Basketball: Causeway Cup Returns to University Credit Union Center

For the first time in six years, the Causeway Cup will return to campus

Davis, Calif. — UC Davis men's basketball returns to the hardwood after a 12 day break from regular season action, taking on Causeway rival Sacramento State, as the Aggies host the Hornets at the University Credit Union Center for a 5:00 p.m. PT tip-off Sunday.

The matchup signifies a return to the home-campus' of this rivalry, with the last six meetings taking place at the Golden 1 Center.

Powered behind a group that has leaned on its depth and defense to create the 11th most turnovers in the country till this point, the Aggies are also off to a 3-1 start in large part due to Elijah Pepper and his 23.0 PPG. Pepper ranks seventh in the country in this department and is inching closer and closer to breaking the UC Davis all-time career scoring record, needing 128 points to overtake Audwin Thomas for the top-spot.

LAST TIME OUT
The Aggies went 1-1 in the Basketball Travelers Mike Montgomery Classic, an MTE hosted by Montana. Suffering a defeat against the host Grizzlies during their first contest, the Aggies responded with a commanding 68-53 win over North Dakota State to leave Missoula on a high-note.

ABOUT THE HORNETS
The Hornets are in the second season of the David Patrick era and are 1-5 to begin the season. The Hornets are led by three double-figure scorers in the form of Zee Hamoda (15.0 PPG), Duncan Powell (13.8 PPG), and Brandon Betson (11.8 PPG). The Hornets are known for their marksmanship from three-point range, ranking second in the country in attempts and tied for ninth in makes from three per-game.
