IRVINE, Calif. – Senior center
Noelle Wijnbelt was selected to the 2023 Big West Women's Water Polo Preseason Coaches' team, announced Friday by conference officials.
FULL PRESEASON COACHES' TEAM
Wijnbelt earned All-Big West First Team honors for the third straight season after her excellent 2022 campaign. She went on to receive her fourth career Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPA) All-America recognition following her junior season.
She enjoyed a fantastic season on the attack despite missing time due to injury, netting a career-best 58 goals, which was the ninth-best mark in program history.
UC Davis was picked to finished fourth in the preseason coaches' poll, receiving 28 total points. Defending champions, Hawai'i, topped the poll with 47 points and five first-place votes. Last season's success received national recognition as the Aggies were ranked 12
th in the recent ACWPA preseason national poll.
UC Davis opens their season at the Cal Cup in Berkeley, Calif., beginning with a matchup against Fresno State on Jan. 28.
