Lucas Carper has career day at Husky Invitational

Bremerton, Wash. — UC Davis finished day one of the Husky Invitational (+25) after carding 302 over round one and 299 over round two. That puts the Aggies at 601 on the day. Lining up for the Aggies at the Husky Invitational was Lucas Carper, Alejandro Nava, Mark Stephens, Jacob Westberg and Darren Chiu. Logan Green is also competing as an individual on Gold Mountain's Cascade Course.

Lucas Carper has been on fire in Bremerton as he currently sits in 2nd place among all competitors. During his first round of 18 he shot a 72 (E) while his second round saw him register a 67 (-5). The 67 for Carper ties a career high round of 72 for him, one in which he set during the Big West Championships in 2021.

All day on the course Carper was able to produce consistent par efforts while limiting bogeys. Through 36 holes, Carper was able to secure six birdies with five coming during his career performance round of 67. While it is always great to record birdies, Lucas didn't stop there, he went on to nail two eagles. The first eagle came on the 14 when Carper was able to hole out after recording just three strokes on the long, 469 yard par 5, at Gold Mountain's Olympic Course. He would carry this momentum from the eagle to his second round where he would eagle yet again but this time, on hole 2, a 318 yard par 4. This would pace his play the rest of the day and be a big factor in his career day.

Alejandro Nava and Jacob Westberg come in tied for 54th among all players and sit (+10) on the day. Nava over the course of the first round shot a 75 (+3) while Westberg recorded a 76 (+4). During the second round Nava posted a 79 (+7) and Westberg a 78 (+6) respectively. Nava was able to card four birdies while Westberg collected two.

Mark Stephens and Darren Chiu rounded out the rest of the lineup for the Aggies. Stephens finds himself tied for 65th among all players and was able to collect two birdie efforts. He put together a round of 81 (+9) over the first 18 and bounced back to shoot a 75 (+3) over his last 18 of the day. Darren Chiu is tied for 68th on the leaderboards after shooting 79 (+7) during both round one and round two. He was also able to record four birdies over the course of 36 holes.

Logan Green competed over on the Cascade Course as an individual and ranks tied for 38th. The Cascade Course is a Par 71 and Green on the first round shot a 76 (+5) while backing that effort up with a 77 (+6) during round two. He carded two birdies on the day and will be back in action at 7:39 AM PDT.

After two rounds, USC leads the field. UC Davis will tee off tomorrow starting at 7:56 on the back nine at Gold Mountain Golf Course where they look to track down St. Mary's and San Jose State who currently sit one stroke ahead.
