San Francisco, Calif. — UC Davis Aggies Men's Golf finished in seventh place during the first tournament of the 2022-23 season. Finishing 16-over-par for the entirety of the tournament, the Aggies totaled scores of 290, 289, and 289.
As a team, UC Davis finished seventh on average for all par 3's, fifth among all par 4's, and ninth among all par 5's. Even with some slight struggles on the par 5's at Olympic Club, the team as a whole was able to put together consistent efforts after recording 167 pars which was tied for third among all teams. The Aggies also were able to shoot 37 birdies and will look to build that number up going into the next tournament.
Darren Chiu led all Aggies on round three where he was able to shoot a 69 to propel him all the way up to 30th among all individuals in the tournament.
Alejandro Nava remained Mr. Consistent on day two after putting together great rounds the first day of the USF Intercollegiate and was able to shoot a 71. Nava made his money on the par 4 and 5's at Olympic Club's Lake Course where he shot for an average of even par on both for the entire tournament.
Lucas Carper and Mark Stephens also put together solid performances with Stephens shooting for 74 on day two while Carper shot a 75. Both were 8-over-par on the week.
Jacob Westberg after struggling with some bogeys the previous day was able to make necessary adjustments and close out the final round recording birdies on holes 14 and 15 to secure an even for par round.
Logan Green concluded his collegiate debut as an individual by shooting 76 on round three. This effort gave him a finish of 12-over-par on the tournament.
