Aggies Ink National Champion Shannon Lackey

DAVIS, Calif. – UC Davis head field hockey coach Austin Pile has added National Champion Shannon Lackey to the Aggie roster. Lackey comes to Davis from Northwestern where she helped the Wildcats to the 2021 national title.

Lackey appeared in eight games during the national championship campaign in 2021 and totaled 28 games played during her Wildcat career.

The Fleetwood, Penn., native made her first collegiate appearance in a victory over Stanford in 2019 and then notched her first career start a day later against UConn.

In 2020, Lackey also played in 10 games, contributing to a stingy Northwestern backline that posted three shutouts and held opponents to an average of 1.3 goals per game and 5.3 shots on goal per contest. The Wildcats went 8-2 in her 10 games played.

Lackey was a four-year letterwinner at Oley Valley High school where she scored 23 career goals and added 33 career assists. She led the team in assists her sophomore and senior seasons. Her accolades included: Freshman: All-Division and National Futures Champion selection… Sophomore: All-County, All-State Second Team and National Futures Championship selection… Junior: All-County, All-State First Team, NFHCA high school National Academic Squad and National Futures Championship selection… Senior: All-County, All State-1st Team, Division 3 Highest GPA Academic Scholar, NFHCA high school National Academic Squad.

Lackey led Oley Valley to a division championship and county championship all four years. She also played eight years for Club Team x-Calibur and led the squad to the Disney ESPN Championship in 2015, the Festival Championship in 2016, NIT Championship in 2015 and 2018, JPIL Championship in 2016 and 2018 and the JPOL Championship in 2014, 2016 and 2018.

Lackey also spent three years on the varsity track and field team. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and earned Distinguished Honors all four years. At Northwestern she was a chemical engineering major.
