DAVIS, Calif. – Four Aggies will represent UC Davis at the NCAA Track & Preliminary Championships. Moving on to the regional round will be Marin Chamberlin in the pole vault, Marlene Gutierrez in the hammer throw, Matthew Okonkwo advances in the 200m, while Brooke Starn will run the 10,000m.

Chamberlin extends her season by setting a new school record in the pole vault, clearing 13-7 (4.14m) at the Big West Championship. The senior also eclipsed the 13-feet mark at the Mt. SAC Relays, posting a 13-1.50 (4.00m).

Gutierrez, who is fresh off two individual titles at the Big West Championships en route to being named the Female Field Athlete of the Meet, will compete in the hammer throw. The senior uncorked a school record 198-9 (60.57m) to win the first event of the championship. Gutierrez also posted a throw over 190 at the Mt. SAC Relays.

Okonkwo defended his Big West title in the 200m with a wind-aided time of 21.08. The junior has posted a legal season-best of 21.33 at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational. Okonkwo nearly broke the school record and the first Aggie to break 21-seconds when he clocked a 20.89 with just a slight wind of +2.3.

Starn used the impressive field at the Stanford Invitational to clock the fourth fastest time in school history in the 10,000m with a 34:09.21 to extend her senior season. The appearance at Stanford was her lone 10k of the season as she clocked a 16:16.12 in the 5,000m at the Bryan Clay Invitational to etch her name third in the Aggie record book.

The NCAA West Prelims will begin on Wednesday, May 25 and be held at the University of Arkansas.
