Davis, Calif. — Following an 81-70 win against Boston University on Monday, UC Davis Men's Basketball will play host to the University of the Pacific to open up the month of December when the Tigers visit town on Thursday, Dec. 1.
 

THE TIP OFF

  • UC Davis takes on UOP for the first of five total games the Aggies will play in the month of December.
  • Action will take place at The University Credit Union Center in Davis, Calif., Thursday, Dec. 1 at 6:00 P.M. PT.
  • The Tigers won the first-ever meeting in the 1917-18 season but the Aggies have won the last four matchups in the series.
  • The Aggies recorded a record of 6-2 during the first month of the season and come into this contest with two straight victories.
  • The latest victories for UC Davis included a 73-71 win against SEMO, and an overtime, 81-70 win over Boston University.
  • The Aggies ended their run at the Cream City Classic going 2-1, with their lone loss coming at the hands of host, Milwaukee.
  • UC Davis has predicated their season on pace, efficiency, versatility and rebounding and the numbers back it up.
  • Boasting the 65th scoring offense in the nation, the Aggies are scoring 79.5 points per game.
  • The Aggies are shooting the ball at a high clip as well, they rank 72nd in the nation at 47.7% from the field and are tied for 61st in three-point percentage at 37.6%.
  • The Aggies are finding ways to score at all three-levels and are a very hard offense to stop when you factor in that UC Davis currently ranks 19th in the nation in free throw attempts per game. UC Davis is averaging a whopping 25 free throws a game.
  • UC Davis is also one of the best rebounding teams in the country with their versatility up and down the roster. They have been winning the rebound margin by an average of 8.2 rebounds per game and rank 30th in the country in this department as well as, total rebounds at 41.25 per game.
  • UC Davis' two leading scorers are Elijah Pepper (19.4) and Ty Johnson (17.4), with Christian Anigwe (12.4) being the third leading scorer and final member averaging double-figures.


ABOUT THE TIGERS

  • Pacific is 2-5 to start the year and possesses one of the better scoring offenses in the country.
  • UOP ranks 63rd in the nation in scoring offense at 79.6 points per game. UOP is also tied for 43rd in the country in three point percentage.
  • The Tigers have four double digit scorers with sophomore, Jordan Ivy-Curry leading the team at 15 points per game. Ivy-Curry is shooting 48.1% from the field and has knocked down 11-30 of his three point attempts.
  • Donovan Williams is the second leading scorer on the Tigers with 12.9 points per game, shooting 46% from the field. Williams is also tied for the most rebounds on Pacific's roster.
  • UOP has suffered two losses to fellow Big West opponents, Cal Poly and Cal State Fullerton.
  • UOP is led by Leonard Perry who is in his 2nd season at the helm for the Tigers. Perry is 58-124 in his career as a head coach and 10-27 during his time at Pacific.


SERIES INFO

  • This is the 99th all-time meeting between Pacific and UC Davis.
  • The Tigers lead the series, 82-16.
  • In the last matchup on Dec. 19, 2021, UC Davis defeated UOP by 10 points. Elijah Pepper led the Ags during the game with 25 points.
  • Pacific won the first-ever game between the two programs but the last ten meetings have seen the Aggies and Tigers split the series at 5-5.


MILESTONE CHECK-IN

  • Elijah Pepper recorded his 1,000th career point in the first game of the Cream City Classic against Milwaukee. After earning a trip to the charity stripe, Pepper knocked down the first of his two attempts to etch his name into the Aggie record books.
  • Pepper scored 52 points during the three game stretch in Milwaukee and with his strongest performance being a 30 point outbreak against SEMO.
  • Elijah surpassed former Aggie, Ezra Manjon to become the 9th highest scoring Aggie in the Division 1 Era and is the 24th most decorated scorer for all-time Aggies.
  • He enters the contest against UOP with 1,041 points and trails the 23rd ranked Dante Ross by only 11 points.


UP NEXT

  • UC Davis will have a long rest after UOP, with their next game happening on Dec. 13., another home contest, against Holy Names.
  • UC Davis is 9-0 all-time in the series and it will mark the eighth meeting during the Division 1 Era for UC Davis in which they will have taken on the Hawks.
  • It will be two straight home games for the Aggies before having to embark on a three-game road stand.
