Davis, Calif. — The America East announced the Field Hockey All-Conference Awards Wednesday afternoon with 45 athletes receiving honors. Among the elite list included one UC Davis Aggie, as Brooke Sanchez was named to the All-Conference Second Team.
Sanchez, the three-time team captain from Escondido, California finished her 2022 campaign leading all Aggies in goals (7) and points (14). Totaling up these stats in an efficient manner, Sanchez posted a SH% of 0.368, good for second on the team while also leading the team in shots on goal with 13 of her 19 being on target.
Among America East leaders, Sanchez finished tied for 10th in goals scored. She also was tied for 20th among all qualified members in points average per game with 0.93. When factoring in conference only stats, Brooke was tied for seventh among all leaders in goals with four.
Sanchez is familiar with being a member of the All-Conference Awards list and has been impactful since the day she stepped on campus. A regular starter throughout her time as an Aggie, Sanchez has appeared in 78 games at Davis and has been one of the most consistent threats to opposing defenses her entire career. Her first recognition from the America East came during her freshman year in 2018 where she got tabbed as an All-Rookie Member while simultaneously being an America East Academic Honor Roll Selection. Due to conference and divisional changes, Brooke joins former teammate Madison Theodore as the only UC Davis Aggies in the current America East format to receive All-Conference Second Team honors. Brooke will be graduating in December with a degree in Global Disease Biology and a minor in Exercise biology.
