Aggies Continue Offensive Onslaught; Down UNC, 58-10

GREELEY – The UC Davis football team continued its scoring and winning ways, taking down Northern Colorado, 58-10, Saturday afternoon from Nottingham Field. The win marks two in a row for the Aggies and improves their record to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in Big Sky Conference play.

The Aggie offense came out of its bye week on a mission, compiling 114 points in the two games since. The 114 points are the most in back-to-back games in the UC Davis Division I era and the most since 2000.

Sophomore quarterback Miles Hastings continued his efficient play, completing 18-of-21 passes for 251 yards and three scores. In the last two games, the signal-caller has completed 83-percent of his passes for 579 yards and five touchdowns.

After back-to-back field goals from Isaiah Gomez to start the game and a 6-3, first quarter score, the floodgates opened for the Aggies. George Moreno set the tone with a pick-six, taking his first career interception 37 yards for the score.

UC Davis then added a quick strike when Hastings found Josh Gale for an 80-yard score. Gale now has touchdowns of 80 and 62 yards on the season. At the end of the second quarter, Hastings hooked up with Justin Kraft for 19 yards to hand the Aggies a 27-3 lead.

The Ags opened the third quarter with a 1-yard plunge by Matteo Perez for his first rushing touchdown of the season and then Hastings capped off his afternoon and the 41-point unanswered scoring streak with a two-yard touchdown pass to C.J. Hutton.

In the final frame, Lan Larison broke away for a 75-yard run, marking his fourth touchdown in the last two contests. Grant Harper concluded the offensive barrage when he connected with Lance Babb II for an 8-yard score. The touchdown marked career firsts for both players.

Defensively, Rex Connors once again paced the team with 10 total tackles and picked off his fourth pass of the season. The Aggies held the Bears to 0-for-3 on fourth downs and blocked a field goal.

UC Davis will return home for two straight games. The Aggies will host Cal Poly for the Battle of the Golden Horseshoe on Saturday, Oct. 29, and then face Idaho State on Saturday, Nov. 5.
