SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Matthew Okonwko won the men's 200-meter dash with a wind-aided time of 21.28 seconds while Samantha Louie's winning triple jump of 12.15 meters, or 39 feet, 10,50 inches, barely lost personal-record status due to wind readings, as both the UC Davis men's and women's teams finished in close seconds at the Sacramento State Invitational track and field meet at Hornet Stadium Saturday.

San Jose State won both team competitions, edging UC Davis on the men's side by just a 109-107 margin, while holding a slightly wider edge on the women's side at 116-106. Host Sacramento State rounded out the fields with third-place showing for both the men and women.

Okonkwo's 21.28 in the 200 would be the fourth best time in school history except for a 2.4 meters per second wind reading in his race. Louie's margin was even closer: her wind indicator showed 2.1 mps, just 0.1 above the threshold to count as a wind-legal mark. Her official best remains the 11.94m (39-2.25) at CSUN earlier this season. However, both Okonkwo and Louie will move up the West Region standings in those respective events, as the wind requirements are less strict for postseason qualifications.

Another Aggie highlight included a first-through-seventh sweep in the women's 5,000, with Sierra Atkins (16:45.41) and Eva Goodisson (16:59.93) each breaking the 17-minute barrier.

UC Davis will take another bye weekend from competition before hosting Sacramento State for the Causeway Classic dual on April 30. That meet will be the first and only home meet for the Aggies, and thus an opportunity to honor the senior class.
