Aggies signees earn McDonald’s All-America nominations

Incoming freshmen Marley Langi and Sydney Burns earn spots as 2021 McDonald's All-American nominees

DAVIS, Calif. — UC Davis women's basketball signees Marley Langi and Sydney Burns earned nominations for 44th annual McDonald's All-America Games on Thursday, two of more than 700 boys and girls high school basketball players selections from across the country.

Langi is one of 27 girls selected from the state of California and three from her high school (Archbishop Mitty HS), while Burns is among a group of eight girls selected from the state of Oregon along with two of her Wilsonville HS teammates.

The two selections for 2021 continues a tradition of attracting high-level talent to the Aggie program as other recent UC Davis student-athletes to earn McDonald's All-America nominations include: Bria Shine (2020), Mazatlan Harris (2020), Campbell Gray (2019), Cierra Hall (2017), Sydnee Fipps (2011), and Lauren Beyer (2011).

Langi, a 6-foot wing who was ranked as a four-star recruit by ProspectsNation.com, helped her high school to a 26-3 record and a berth in the CIF Open Division State Championship game as a junior, adding West Catholic Athletic League, CIF section, and NorCal trophies to her mantel.

Burns, a 5-foot-9 guard, was named the Northwest Oregon Conference Player of the Year and a first-team all-league selection as a junior, averaging 13.6 points, 6.2 assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.7 steals per game. She has helped Wilsonville HS to a trio of conference titles and a share of the state title in a shortened 2019-20 season.

The duo was joined by Atherton, Calif., native Megan Norris as part of UC Davis' signing class back in November.

The McDonald's All American Games continue to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) through its network of local Chapters. At RMHC, programs like the Ronald McDonald House®, Ronald McDonald Family Room® and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile® provide comfort and compassion to families with ill or injured children so they are fully supported and able to be a part of their children's care.
