Manjon, Fuller lead Aggies against Portland

DAVIS, CA -- Ezra Manjon and Caleb Fuller combined to score 37 total points but the Aggies fell to the Portland Pilots 65-60 at home Wednesday afternoon.

Manjon led the Aggies (6-4) with 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists, his third straight game scoring at least 20 points. Fuller tacked on a season-high 17 points and Christian Anigwe had nine points and two steals.

The Aggies forced 14 Portland turnovers and turned those into 18 points while committing a season-low seven turnovers.

After falling behind 25-19, UC Davis went on a 9-0 run with 7:40 left in the first half, culminating in a three by Fuller, to take a 28-25 lead and went into the half up 34-33.

UC Davis came out of the locker room on fire, going on an 11-0 run, finished off by an Anigwe jumper, to jump out to a 45-33 lead with 16:36 to go in the contest. The Pilots responded by going on a 12-1 run to get within 46-45. A three by Anigwe kept the Aggies up 49-45 but Portland later went up 56-53 on a three-pointer. The Aggies only came as close as 58-58 the rest of the way as Portland hit another three with 3:32 to go.

With the Aggies' Dec. 28 game at home against UC Riverside canceled, UC Davis will next play at Hawai'i on Dec. 30 and the next home game will come on Jan. 6 against UC Irvine. UC Davis will not be allowing fans at University Credit Union Center from Jan. 2-9, affecting that Jan. 6 game and Jan. 8's game against UC San Diego.
