Aggies' Hall nets Big West weekly honors

Senior picks up her fourth career weekly award from league office

DAVIS, Calif. -- A career milestone as part of a record-tying performance along with a clutch outing against one of the nation's top teams helped net UC Davis senior Cierra Hall Big West Conference Player of the Week laurels on Monday afternoon.

Hall, the first Aggie to be so honored this season, picked up her fourth career weekly honor from the league office and her first since Feb. 15, 2021, when she helped engineer a pair of victories over previously unbeaten Long Beach State.

The cell biology major from Cypress, Calif., averaged 13.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in helping UC Davis win two of three games last week, shooting .467 (14-for-30) from the field overall against Stanislaus State, No. 3 Stanford, and a Gonzaga team that was receiving votes in the USA Today coaches poll and ranked No. 4 in the College Insider mid-major poll.

Hall opened the week with an 11-point, 16-rebound performance against the Warriors in the team's first game back from final exams, becoming the 21st player in school history to reach 1,000 career points while matching the school's Division I single-game rebounding mark that was set by teammate Sage Stobbart against Saint Mary's earlier in the year.

After scoring eight points and grabbing four rebounds against the Cardinal on the road, Hall helped the Aggies put together one of the largest comebacks in school history, scoring a season-high 22 points on 7-of-9 from the field and grabbing five rebounds as UC Davis erased a 17-point deficit en route to a 69-66 win over the Bulldogs.

The 17-point rally was the program's largest since the Aggies came from behind from down 17 to defeat Hawai'i by a 58-50 score in the 2019 Big West Tournament championship game.

For the season, Hall is averaging 12.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game, shooting 40 percent from the field and 35 percent from beyond the arc.

Finishing the non-conference portion of their season with a 6-4 record, the Aggies take a short break for the holidays before returning to the court to open Big West play on Tuesday (Dec. 28) at UC Riverside. UC Davis then hosts Hawai'i on New Year's Day at 2 p.m. at the University Credit Union Center.
