DAVIS, Calif. – Northern California basketball standout
Noah Haynesworth will transfer to UC Davis and continue his basketball career with the Aggies, as announced by head coach
Jim Les on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-2 junior guard will join the program with two years of eligibility remaining.
"It's been a dream of mine to play at the next level, I'm forever grateful for the opportunity to play Division I basketball. Thank you, Coach Les and Coach Nosek, for your faith in me to compete in your program," said Haynesworth.
"I am beyond blessed to further my academic and athletic career at UC Davis," he added.
Said associate head coach
Kevin Nosek, "Noah is an accomplished student-athlete. His high character and athletic abilities will fit seamlessly into our program."
Haynesworth started 39 of 53 games throughout his two years at Skyline College, including all 27 played throughout a 2019-20 season that saw him shoot 46 percent overall, average 10.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
Named team captain before the start of his sophomore season, he ended his junior college career with second team all-conference accolades and was recognized as the top men's basketball student-athlete in Northern California by the California Community College Men's Basketball Coaches Association.
Awarded the Philip and Ellis Garlington Scholarship while at Skyline, which recognizes the school's top student-athlete, he graduated magna cum laude with a psychology degree.
The Mill Valley native joined Skyline's program after enjoying an outstanding multi-sport career at Tamalpais High School. Even though he competed for the football and volleyball teams, his athleticism and skill set played a key role in the Red Tailed Hawks' basketball success during his tenure with the program.
Haynesworth led THS to consecutive 21-win seasons during his junior and senior years; the team also won 10 league games each year and enjoyed deep runs in the North Coast Section playoffs by advancing to the semifinals one year and the championship game in the other.
In addition to playing three sports, he ran the Black Student Union and was named Marin Foundation Student-Athlete of the Year when he graduated from at Tamalpais HS in 2018.
He is the second member of his family to compete at the Division I level; his cousin played volleyball at Duke from 2009-13.
