DAVIS, Calif. – Francesco Borra is the newest member of UC Davis men's basketball after signing a National Letter of Intent, as announced by head coach
Jim Les on Friday.
Â
Originally from Moncalieri, Italy, the 6-foot-11 forward gained valuable on-court experience as a member of his home country's U18 National Team training camp, and will graduate from JSerra Catholic High School this spring.
Â
"I want to personally thank Coach Les and the coaching staff for believing in me. I am grateful to become a member of the UC Davis men's basketball program and pursue my studies at UC Davis," said Borra.
Â
"Last but not least, I want to thank my family and all the JSerra family that helped me through the recruitment process in order to achieve my goals."
Â
In his senior season at JSerra (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.), Borra shot 56 percent from the floor, averaged 8.6 points, 6.9 rebounds per game, and earned a highly-coveted spot on the Torrey Pines Holiday Classic's All-Tournament Team.
Â
"We are super excited for Francesco," said JSerra head coach Keith Wilkenson. "He will become an amazing presence with his size, length and ability to move his feet. He can score with his back to the basket, loves to seal down low on the block and is a true big that can facilitate a team's offense."
Â
Wilkenson added, "UC Davis is not only getting a great player, but an even better person. He will become a monster in the Big West."
