DAVIS, Calif. — With four teams separated by only one game in the Big West standings, each one of the four matchups slated to take place on Saturday is an important one as teams battle one final time for the best possible seed at next week's Big West Tournament. In addition to UC Davis' game at UC Riverside, Cal Poly will head to UC Santa Barbara and Hawai'i will face CSUN in contests scheduled to tip at 7 p.m. The final Big West matchup of the regular season involves Long Beach State at Cal State Fullerton, which will begin at 7:30 p.m.
A video stream of the Aggies' season finale at SRC Arena is available on BigWest.TV; Scott Marsh will call this game on 1380 AM KTKZ and the station's TuneIn Radio station. Live stats and in-game Twitter updates links are available at
Gameday Central.
Since UC Riverside was off on Thursday, it will return to action for the first time since Leap Day when it defeated Hawai'i, on its home court, by a 49-43 result. Unlike the Aggies, who will head to the Inland Empire seeking a win to secure the highest possible Big West Tournament seed, the Highlanders are seeking a win to maintain its current position at No. 6, and avoid sliding into a lower seed.
As has been the case since the first day of league play, UC Davis will enter Saturday's meeting as the BWC's top free-throw shooting team (.785) and top team from three (.396). It will also return to action as the league's top defense from three since it is holding Big West opponents to a .336 clip from distance.
The Aggies also rank No. 2 among all conference teams with their .464 overall shooting percentage.Â
By comparison, UCR is ranked No. 8 at the line (.690), No. 5 from three (.348) and from the floor (.434).
This head-to-head series is one the Aggies have dominated in recent seasons: In addition to winning five of the last seven, they won 11 of 16, starting with the 2013 season, and left SRC Arena with a victory in five of the last seven years.
Series Record: UC Davis leads 37-34
Last UC Riverside Win: 1/9/20 — H, 65-59
Last UC Davis Win: 2/2/19 — A, 84-71
Series Streak: UC Riverside +2Â
