DAVIS, Calif. — If you are a college basketball fan, welcome to your favorite time of the year because teams across the nation are battling for the best possible seeding in their respective league tournament, and prepping for successful postseason appearances.
UC Davis was one of the first Big West teams to clinch a spot in the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner Big West Basketball Tournament, and has its sights set on earning the No. 2 seed — something that will take place if it sweeps this week's action and UCSB loses one of its final two games.
Victorious in six of their last eight games, and the last four straight played on Bob Hamilton Court, the Aggies will host Hawai'i in Thursday's 7 p.m. home finale. Fans are encouraged to arrive at least 20 minutes early to find their seats help men's basketball honor is 2019-20 senior class during a pregame ceremony.
A live stream of Thursday's Aggies-Rainbow Warriors matchup is available on BigWest.TV. Scott Marsh will provide a courtside call on 1380 AM KTKZ and its TuneIn Radio channel. Live stats, in-game Twitter updates and tickets links are also available at Gameday Central.
UC Davis is not the only team battle for the best possible seed and smoothest path to a conference tournament title since Hawai'i can earn a seed as high as No. 2, or as low as No. 7, depending on this week's results. However, the 'Bows will face a battle-tested, yet young Aggie squad that returns to its home floor following a one-point victory versus Long Beach State, in a game that featured numerous clutch plays from the Aggies throughout the final minutes to secure another home win.
UC Davis will arrive to the Pavilion with added motivation to end the careers of their six-member senior class — student managers Harry Finnerty, Cameron Patterson, senior guards
Stefan Gonzalez,
Joe Mooney,
Rogers Printup, and senior center
Matt Neufeld — with a win in their final appearance inside the Pavilion.
Following Thursday's home finale, the Aggies will end the regular season with Saturday's 7 p.m. matchup at UC Riverside.Â
