Sunbirds added to Aggies’ schedule for Sunday matinee

UC Davis and Fresno Pacific scheduled to meet on Dec. 6 at 2 p.m.

DAVIS, Calif. — After having a pair of games cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UC Davis women's basketball team has added a contest against NCAA Division II program Fresno Pacific University.

The Aggies and Sunbirds are scheduled to lock horns on Sunday (Dec. 6) at 2 p.m. at The Pavilion. Although the game is closed to the public, fans can watch the contest via the Big West TV platform, follow the contest via live stats at UCDavisAggies.com, listen live locally on KDVS 90.3 FM, or listen live online via the KDVS.org website or the TuneIn app.

Greg Wong will have the play-by-play.

UC Davis, which has had scheduled games against Simpson University (Nov. 28) and Santa Clara (Dec. 3) cancelled due to COVID concerns, is 1-0 on the year after opening the season with an 82-75 victory over San Francisco on Nov. 25, led by all five starters in double figures.

The Aggies are 4-0 all-time against Fresno Pacific, but the two teams have not met in an official game since the 2002-03 season when UC Davis clipped the Sunbirds, 83-66, at home. The two programs first met during the 1988-89 campaign, which ended in a 66-63 Aggie victory, with UC Davis also posting victories in 1997 (77-61) and 1999 (78-63).

Fresno Pacific is coming off a 90-39 exhibition loss at Cal Baptist on opening day. Freshman guard Lydia Manu led the Sunbirds with eight points to go with four rebounds, while junior forward Megan Sheret added a team-best nine rebounds.
