Aggies start season among mid-major top 25

UC Davis ranked No. 18 in preseason College Insider mid-major poll

DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Davis women's basketball team will begin the 2020-21 season ranked among the top mid-major programs in the nation, opening the year at No. 18 in the country according to the preseason College Insider Mid-Major poll released on Nov. 25.

The Aggies, who celebrated by opened their season with an 82-75 victory over San Francisco on that same day, jumped seven spots in the rankings from last year's final mid-major rankings, when they ended the season as the No. 25 team in the country following their fourth consecutive Big West Conference championship.

It was the first time that UC Davis had been ranked since finishing a record-setting 2018-19 campaign at No. 20 in the poll.

A unanimous pick by both the league's head coaches and members of the media to finish atop the Big West standings for a fifth consecutive year, the Aggies return eight letter winners and three starters off of last year's squad, picking up six of the 11 first-place votes (101 points overall) from the coaches and 13 of the 20 media first-place votes (207 points overall) in the league's 2020-21 preseason polls.
