DAVIS, Calif. – In Wednesday's season opener, four Aggies finished in double figures and a slew of new career highs were set in UC Davis' opening game at the Bronco Invitational, hosted by Santa Clara. Following a day off to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday, the Aggies will return to the Leavey Center on Friday to face the tournament hosts in a 1 p.m. non-conference tilt.
Since Santa Clara is streaming its games only, a video stream is available for this Aggies-Broncos matchup. Scott Marsh will call the action on Sports 1140 KHTK, and its internet audio broadcast; live stats are also available by clicking here.
As is the case with UC Davis, Santa Clara returns four of its starters, led by All-West Coast Conference senior Josip Vrankic who led the Broncos in scoring and rebounding last season with his 12.5 ppg and 5.4 rpg averages. Also returning for fifth-year head coach Herb Sendek are six players who started at least 15 games last season.Â
Even though Santa Clara won its last 18 straight home non-conference games, UC Davis defeated the Broncos in their last head-to-head contest, which took place during the opening weekend of the 2016-17 season as part of the Cable Car Classic. That meeting was the first between these teams since Dec. 6, 1986.
In Wednesday's Bronco Invitational opener, SC defeated Idaho State by a 62-49 score.Â
