NEW ORLEANS, La. — Anthony Easter and Drake Foote have earned All-Academic distinction for their success both on and off the track, announced by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday.
To earn one of the most prestigious track academic honors, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25, completed at least three quarters at the institution, and have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships. For the multi-events, a student-athlete must have finished the outdoor season ranked in the top-48 in their respective region.
Easter, a psychology major out of Eastvale, Calif., qualified for the men's 400m hurdles at the NCAA West Prelims. After advancing through the first round on a personal record 51.38, Easter wrapped up his first full season as an Aggie as the 21st finisher in the West Region, and is now fifth all-time at UC Davis.
Foote, a physics major from Livermore, Calif., nabbed his second consecutive USTFCCCA All-Academic award after earning his first career appearance at the NCAA West Prelim meet, where he competed in the men's high jump. Foote finished with a lifetime best 2.11m/6-11.00 in 16th place based on attempts, and now sits alone at fifth all-time in Aggie history. Foote also hit his decathlon marks, recording 7,251 points at the Big West Multis Championships to finish 24th in the West Region, and third in the UC Davis record books.
