DAVIS, Calif. – Wesley Harris is the newest member of UC Davis men's basketball after signing a National Letter of Intent, as announced by head coach Jim Les on Monday.

Harris will join the program with three years of eligibility remaining after spending the 2018-19 season at Otero Junior College.

Last year, the Rattlers finished with a 20-10 overall record with the Phoenix native playing a vital role in his team's success. He led Otero in scoring (15.0 ppg), rebounding (9.5 rpg), blocked shots (1.8 bpg) and held four top-25 national rankings.

Among all players in the country, Harris ended his freshman season ranked No. 7 with 312 total rebounds, No. 17 with his rebound average, No. 20 with a .653 field goal percentage and No. 25 with 60 blocked shots.

It was the 6-foot-6 forward who fueled Otero's 11-game win streak; he averaged 17.8 ppg and shot .717 from the floor throughout that two-month timespan, which ultimately led to a postseason berth for the Rattlers and All-Region IX Team honors for Harris.

Harris knows what it takes to win: In addition to fueling Otero's success last season, Desert Vista High School posted an .743 win percentage, earned two semifinal berths and advanced to the championship game in the Arizona High School Basketball playoffs throughout his four years with the program.

It was his athleticism and playmaking ability that helped Desert Vista finish his senior year with a 25-5 overall record, a 6A Central Basketball title and a playoff run to the semifinal round of the Arizona State Basketball Championships.

The Thunder also ended Harris' senior season with a top-five ranking, among all high school basketball programs in Arizona, for the third time in his career.

By averaging 19.3 points, 7.6 rebounds 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks per game as a senior, Harris led the Thunder to their second state semifinal appearance in as many years. That season was the second in a row that he earned all-conference first team and team MVP accolades.

During his junior year, he led all players in scoring (17.8 ppg) and rebounds (7.2 per game).

From 2016-18, Harris also competed for the prestigious Compton Magic program, an organization based in Corona, Calif.
