Day Three Results

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – UC Davis ended its stay at the Lamkin Invitational, hosted by San Diego State, on a victorious note by defeating Portland State, 4-1, in round robin action during the final day of the tournament.

Senior sociology – organizational studies major Samantha Hutchison began her day by winning the first hole played against Windy Huang, and increased her lead as the round progressed. Thanks to birdies on holes 9 and 11, combined with Huang's bogey on 8, Hutchison led 4 up before ending her day after 14 holes.

On The Farms Golf Club's par-5 12th hole, she recorded a 5 against Huang's fourth, and final bogey of the round, to record a 5&4 result and earn the team's first point.

Sophomore Madison Wood was the next Aggie to finish, and she doubled her team's lead by defeating Jasmine Cabajar, 4&3.

In addition to recording pars on eight holes, Wood birdied three holes — the first taking place on hole 6 which helped her hold a 1 up advantage. Compared to the sophomore's steady, and consistent play, Cabajar struggled all morning long and posted a bogey on eight of 15 holes played on Wednesday.

Additional birdies from Wood on holes 9 and 12 pushed her lead to four holes; the latter officially clinched the team point for the Aggies.

All square through the first two holes of her round against Valerie Hernandez, junior managerial economics major Christine Danielsson shot a par on her third hole of the day, and took the lead for good once Hernandez posted a bogey on that same hole.

As the morning progressed, Danielsson's birdies on holes 6, 8 and 11 pushed that lead to four; she led by as many as five until she officially earned her 3&2 victory after walking off hole 15.

Junior sociology major Yoonhee Kim jumped out to an early lead against Iliana Telles when she shot par against her opponent's bogey on the inaugural hole of her round. Seventeen holes later this back-and-forth battle ended 1 up in Kim's favor after each shot par on the final hole of this matchup.

With Wednesday's result against the Vikings, the Aggies will depart San Diego with two match play team victories and begin prepping for Monday's Fresno State Classic, their final event before the Big West Conference Championships commence on April 15.
