DAVIS, Calif. — It's been a historic year for UC Davis incoming freshman women's golfer Nina Choe.
The New York City native won her first AJGA event a year ago by firing a one-under par 69 in the third and final round of the 2025 K.J. Choi Foundation Junior Championship by SK Telecom. A consistent and bogeyless performance over the final 18 holes allowed Choe to rise from sixth place to the top of the leaderboard.
The victory was the first of four amateur wins over the last year for Choe, who became the second player ever and the first since Dottie Pepper in 1981 to win both the NYS Girls 18U Junior Amateur and the NYS Women's Amateur in the same calendar year.
Other Choe highlights in the past year have included a pair of second-place showings among six top-10 AJGA finishes.
Choe and the Aggies begin their 2026-27 collegiate season Sept. 14-15 at the Leadership and Golf Invitational co-hosted by Seattle and Washington at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash. The venue was the site of the men's 2015 U.S. Open.
